Mumbai : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a 37-year-old college staffer of SNDT College, Ghatkopar while allegedly accepting an amount of Rs 6,000 from a student of the college as bribe to help her clear the subject she had failed. The arrested accused has been identified as Deepak Aatmaram Kaneri who works as an office staffer in the college. The girl who is a third year student had failed in one of the six subjects of the semester and had applied for the revaluation of the same.
Kaneri learnt that the student had been seeking revaluation in the subject and approached her. He told the girl that if she would pay him an amount of Rs 15,000, he would be able to pass her in the subject she had failed. The girl then approached the ACB and informed them about the bribe that Kaneri had demanded. The ACB then laid a trap in the college campus on Monday and asked the student to meet Kaneri and hand over a part of the bribe amount.
The ACB arrested Kaneri on the spot while accepting Rs 6,000 as part of the demanded bribe of Rs 15,000.
