Mumbai : The state BJP now plans to focus on the organisational set up of the party, especially in the 132 constituencies where the party lost during the recent assembly elections, party sources have indicated.
Party won 122 seats and formed government in the state. The government even passed the crucial trust vote. Now, soon the cabinet too would be expanded. At such a juncture when everything appears to be falling in line, the state BJP plans to gear up the organisational set up, if not overhaul, a senior party leader told FPJ.
As an initial part of the entire process, the core committee has decided to review all the 132 constituencies where party lost the elections. Party’s feedback mechanism has highlighted organisational discord as the primary reason for failure at many of the 132 seats that they lost. Now, the core committee wants to look seriously into this problem.
The exercise will be carried out in a region-wise manner, with a senior leader being assigned for a particular region. A few committees at various levels too will be formed. All of them will go to the places where party candidates lost and will try to ascertain the reason behind party candidate’s defeat, sources have said.
In carrying out this exercise, the state BJP has two targets, political analysts say. One is to find fault in the organisational machinery and fix it. But, there is another angle to this process, which is to test waters for possible new allies, analysts argue. Many of the 132 seats have been lost with a very thin margin. So, the party wants to have a fact check whether there in any possibility to win over the winner candidate to its fold, which is what is said to be ‘Operation Lotus’.
