Akola: Fed up with delays in getting compensation for their land acquired in a highway project, five farmers consumed poison at the district collectorate on Monday, an official said.
The five, including a woman farmer, have been hospitalised after consuming a pesticide, the official said.
The farmers had come to the Collectorate to meet upper collector Narendra Lonkar and seek speedy compensation for their land acquired for the highway widening work. They consumed the pesticide in presence of the bureaucrat, the official said.
