Mumbai: In two separate incidents, Mumbai police arrested three people for dealing and possession of mephedrone and cannabis. In the first case, Mulund Police have arrested two persons, identified as Manoj Kumar Sahu and Ravindra Barik for allegedly selling cannabis. Police have recovered 69 kilograms of cannabis worth Rs 7 lakh from them. According to the police, they had received a tip-off about the duo coming to Vijaynagar area to sell cannabis. A team from Mulund Police station then set up a trap and apprehended them on suspicion. In their search of the accused, police recovered 12.5 kilograms of cannabis.
During the interrogation, the duo told the police about their location, which is a safe house where more stocks of the drug were stored. Mulund Police raided the above premises and seized a consignment of cannabis weighing 56.5 kgs. According to the police, Sahu and Barik have been booked under Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act. The duo were produced in the court which remanded them in police custody till July 1.
In an another incident, a Nigerian national has been arrested by D N Nagar police, for possessing 225 grams of mephedrone drug, commonly known as meow meow drug. The seized drug is worth Rs 9 lakhs. The accused, Chinonso Azudiugwu, 37, has been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Azudiugwu was produced in court and he was sent to police custody, till July 1.
