Mumbai: Bhandup police arrested three persons for the murder of Rakesh Ambadas Pawar, 35 a local cricketer from Bhandup. The accused have been identified as Sohel Khan his father Asif Khan and Bhushan Bhoir, all residents of Bhandup. According to Bhandup Police, old enmity and a feud was the reason for the crime.
“In 2017, deceased Rakesh brother was met with an accident in which he suffered serious leg injuries, Sohel was responsible for that accident. Since then, relations between the two families soured,” said a cop of Bhandup police station.
Thursday night at 11.45 pm, Rakesh was returning to his Chandanwadi house with his woman friend on his bike. When Rakesh stopped to fill petrol on Mahavir petrol pump along the LBS road, suddenly three accused who were hiding, attacked Rakesh from behind. The trio assaulted Rakesh with a chopper in which Rakesh sustained serious injuries to head and his back. After the attack, the attackers fled from the spot.
Due to the attack on the head and on the back Rakesh was bleeding profusely, he was taken to the nearby hospital, but he succumbed to injuries a few hours after the admission. Rakesh a resident of Chandanwadi area of Bhandup was a well-known cricketer, he received many awards for his bowling skills and currently, he used to coach young cricketers he was survived by his wife and two kids.
