Mira Road : The Thane (rural) police have successfully tracked 235 missing kids under-operation Muskan- a month long social initiative held between 1 to 31, July to reunite lost children with their families.
Of the 235 children, 233 have been reunited with their families while efforts were on to locate the addresses of the remaining two who have been accommodated at shelter homes.
While special teams from the Anti Human Trafficking unit along with their local counterparts are making efforts to trace their homes believed to be in West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh, details of both have also been uploaded on the Women and Child Development department’s web portal ”Missing Child” and ”Khoya Paya”.
Apart from spotting and reuniting runaway, abandoned, missing, and those who kids who had accidentally drifted away from their kin, the personnel also managed to track eight children who had been kidnapped from various pockets located in the jurisdiction of the Thane (rural) police. A dedicated team under the supervision of SP-Rajesh Pradhan worked round-the-clock to check small children at places including railway stations, bus depots, markets, religious places, juvenile shelter homes and even those found begging to ascertain whether they have drifted away from their kin.
