Ujjain: A massive vehicle rally was taken out under the aegis of Sindhu Jagrat Samaj and Sindhu Youth Federation here on Sunday to mark the occasion of birth anniversary of God Jhulelal. Before the commencement of the rally, 21 kg cake was cut at Tower Chowk in the presence of MLA Mohan Yadav, former MLA Shiva Kotwani, Mahesh Parwani, Gopal Balwani, Dharmendra Khoobchandani, Mahesh Gangwani, Pratap Rohera and others.
A portrait of Jhulelal was placed on a chariot which was escorting the rally in which over 1400 two-wheeler riders wearing white T-shirts and 550 women donning red-colour turban participated. About 600 old-age people also joined the procession on 150 four-wheelers. 80 e-rickshaws were pressed into service to spread the message of saving environment. About 100 dais were erected enroute to welcome the participants.
The rally passed through Chamunda Mata Mandir Chouraha, Dewasgate Chouraha, Malipura, Daulatganj Chouraha, Nai Sadak, Kanthal, Satigate, Gopal Mandir, Patni Bazaar, Mahakaleshwar Temple, Bada Ganpati Temple, Harisiddhi Temple and concluded at Saiteuram Ghat, near Narsingh Ghat. Here prasadi and thandai were distributed by the Madhav Trust.
Mahaarti, bhajan sandhya at Ram Ghat
The Chetichand festival was celebrated by organising various events on Sunday under the aegis of Varundev Akhand Jyoti Mandir Samiti. Celebrations began with flag hoisting at Daggarwadi located temple and it was followed by mahaprasadi. In the evening a procession began from Daggarwadi and after traversing through Sabzi Mandi, Tanki Chouraha and Dhaba Road concluded at Ram Ghat. Here aarti of God Jhulelal was performed by 1111 earthen lamps. Lateron, colourful cultural programmes were presented by Lata Bhagtani Musical Group, Mumbai. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mohanlal Vaswani, Dayaldas Lalwani, Ashok Sitlani, Mohandas Lalwani, Chandiram Jethwani, Deepak Rajwani, Radhika Dadwani and Varsha Advani among others. About 4000 community members were present on the occasion.
9 feted with Vikramaditya Alankar
During a programme arranged by the Vikramotsav Samiti at Dutt Akhada Ghat, Rajya Sabha member Prabhat Jha conferred Vikramaditya Alankar (award) to nine different persons as mark of respect to the nine gems of erstwhile court of King Vikramaditya. Those who received these awards this year included Pragya Gadhwal (Kathak dancer), Saral Gyani (classical vocalist), Dr Pravin Uddhav (tabla player), Rajendra Samdani (lawyer), Mahesh Kanoongo (Ayurvedic medicine practitioner), Dilip Wakankar (archaeologist), Satish Sagar (poet and lyricist) and Sunil Gupta (social worker).
