Ujjain: Leader of Opposition (LoP) of Congress in Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) Rajendra Vasishtha has asked commissioner to remove irregularities in name of underground sewerage project under Amrut Mission Yojana. Vasishtha on Saturday inspected roads being dug out to lay sewerage pipelines.
Tata Projects Limited has been awarded work to tune of crores. “The work is not being carried out as per specifications and tender agreement as JCB machines were being used to excavate roads instead of cutters,” he wrote to commissioner. According to Vasishtha, Rs 42 crore were sanctioned for road restoration work under the sewerage plan.
The bitumen roads covered under the plan were already damaged and condition of cement concrete roads was also not different. He added that restoration of city roads would need additional Rs 300 crore. He complained that the entire work was being carried out without a proper plan and taking ward corporators into confidence.
