Ujjain: An accused has been given 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a college girl after, abducting her and later blackmailing. Special judge Vijay Kumar Pandey awarded the 10 year sentence of rigorous imprisonment to Shafique alias Mannu (32), a resident of Tarana, as an FIR was registered against him on the basis of statements of victim under sections 366, 376(2)(N), 506 of the IPC, Section 3(2)(v) of SCST Act. The court also slapped cash penalties under various relevant sections.
Prosecution media cell in-charge Mukeshkumar Kunhare said, “The accused was acquainted with the victim’s family, he wanted to be friendly with the victim but when she refused, he started teasing her by making unwanted phone calls at odd hours”. On May 20, 2017, the accused picked the girl from the college on the pretext of illness of her grandmother and took her to Ujjain in his car where he had marriage documents ready. There against her will- their marriage was solemnised. After that he took the girl at an isolated place and raped her repeatedly, he also made a video simultaneously. The accused kept her hostage in Sehore from June 30 to July 13, 2017 and kept raping her. Somehow the girl managed to return back to her home and lodged a report against the accused. The case was pleaded by deputy director (AJAK) RK Chandel on behalf of the government.
