Ujjain: National Youth Day: Thousands perform Surya Namaskar

Ujjain: Elders, youth and children, celebrated the National youth Day with fervour to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, at Ksheersagar playground on Saturday. Divisional commissioner Ajit Kumar, collector Shashank Mishra, zila panchayat CEO Sandeep GR, municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal, mayor Meena Jonwal, municipal president Sonu Gehlot and thousands of children of both public and private institutions participated in the programme.

Mass Surya Namaskar began at 9 am with yoga and pranayam. All the present members performed various yoga moves enthusiastically even little children were doing it with utmost accuracy. A human chain was also formed on the occasion with a message of making city number -1 in swachchta Survekshan-2019.

In Madhav College professors and students performed Surya Namaskar. College principal Dr Hemant Namdev, chief guest Dr Harisingh Kushwah, professor Sangeeta Vatsa, national service scheme volunteers performed Surya Namaskar on the occasion. Dr Jafar Mahmood anchored programme and Dr Mamta Panwar proposed vote of thanks at the end of the programme.

Oxford Junior college celebrated its Foundation Day and National Youth Day with fervour as institution was founded on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Institution’s fraternity performed Surya Namaskar to commemorate the occasion. Students also greeted parents by cleaning their feet to symbolise Indian tradition.

School’s founder Dr Arjun Kumar Khatri, Dr MA Sheikh, Sunil khatri, Dilip Dhanwani participated in the programme. Neelam Khatri convened the programme. Dr Ambedkar Vidhyarthi Parisad remembered Swami Vivekananda by garlanding his statue at Madhav Science College. College principal Arpan Bhardwaj, Ram Solanki and professors were present during the programme. Praveen Nagadiya, Deepak Dhakad and Nilesh Gehlot organised the programme.

Vikram Panel celebrated Youth Day by garlanding his statue at Madhav College in the presence of vice-president of State Congress Committee, Rajendra Bharti. Panel president Tofik Khan, Abhishek Sharma, Ajam Sheikh, Dilip Singh Parmar, Gajendra Marothiya and Arun Bali were present in the programme.

Deep Surya Namaskar was performed by children early morning on the banks of River Kshipra. Pt Himanshu Vyas and Santosh Solanki convened the event. A mass surya namaskar programme was held at Lokmanya Tilak School under the guidance of principal Dr Arun shukla on Saturday. Chief guest Durga Choudhary along with more than 500 students and 45 teachers jointly performed surya namaskar on the occasion. Manohar Sharma anchored the programme.

District Athletics Association and Human Unity Social Foundation jointly organised a 1600 metres run for youngsters at sports arena in Mahananda Nagar to mark birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Sports officer Rubika Diwan feted the top 20 runners on the occasion.
