Ujjain: Illicit liquor recovered from dilapidated building

Ujjain: After receiving a complaint on Saturday, excise department raided an old thread bare building of Electricity Company in Shankarpur and seized 45 quarters of illegal liquor. Lakshman Singh, a local of this area was arrested in this connection. He confessed that the seized liquor was meant to be sold it to people.

Electricity officers had also lodged a complaint before. The executive engineer Shubhash Sakuriya said that the building is of power transmission company and company’s document are kept there but the gates and windows have been broken and building is in ruins. After this report Sakuriya promptly gave an instruction to electricity department officers to close the building by making a wall.

Excise commissioner Harshwardhan Rai said that on Saturday a team of department raided the Kaharwadi and Hijde ki Khaiya. Tejulal Kahar, Kali Bai, Kamlabai and Kalabai were arrested for allegedly selling illicit liquor. Around 250 quarters of country liquor were seized from these people which costs around Rs 18000.
