Ujjain: An elderly couple made a suicide attempt by consuming pesticide on Sunday killing one of them. Vinod Sharma (61) and his wife Nisha came to the city and paid obeisance at Lord Mahakaleshwar temple. The couple was staying in a ‘dharmshala’ near the temple. According to Nisha, her husband worked at a readymade shop in Maharashtra and their financial condition was very bad thus they decided to end life.
Police said as soon as they consumed pesticide, Vinod fainted but Nisha started vomiting. Dharmshala manager informed the Mahakal police and they were taken to a hospital. Vinod was declared brought dead by the doctors but Nisha survived and is currently getting treatment in the hospital.
Son refuses to attend cremation
In her statement Nisha told the police that their Girish works in Punjab and his financial condition too is not good. Girish refused to attend funeral of his father citing financial condition when the police informed him about the death of his father.
