District Congress Committee (DCC) has charged the BJP for playing politics in the name of disbursement of due payments of retrenched labourers of MP State Textile Corporation’s closed Binod-Bimal Mills. DCC (urban) president Mahesh Soni on Saturday took the local BJP leaders cross handed who on Friday met the divisional commissioner and while submitting him a memorandum demanded the disbursement of due payments in favour of thousands of retrenched labourers.
“BJP is a liar party, which always misguides people. Its local leaders are now playing politics on the issue of mill labourers and have submitted a memorandum against 90-day old Congress government so as to take political mileage in the Lok Sabha polls,” he alleged. Soni claimed that when BJP was in power, the Indore bench of High Court had in the year 2004 ordered to pay the dues to retrenched labourers, but they made an appeal against the order in the double bench.
When double bench maintained the single bench order, the government reached Supreme Court which on February 27, 2019 finally ordered to clear payments. “If BJPwallas are really honest for securing labourers’ interest, then why did they unnecessarily prolonged the litigations in the matter,” he enquired, adding that the Congress will ensure that the due amount is paid to the workers soon.
