Ujjain: Purchases of crops started on Tuesday at Chimanganj Krishi Upaj Mandi after three days’ vacation. According to mandi sources, farmers started reaching at the mandi from Monday evening and started purchasing the crops on minimum support price (MSP) on Tuesday.
The mandi premises was packed with trolleys laden with crops of wheat and gram. The state government started purchasing crops on MSP from Tuesday. Over 35,000 sacks of crops were brought to the mandi for sale. With start of purchase at MSP by the government, farmers can sell their produce at Rs 2000 per quintal. Earlier the farmers were getting lesser rate for their crops. Purchase of crops at MSP by the government is being carried at 76 centres across the district.
