Scindia inaugurates swimming academy, lays foundation stone of Rs 7cr stadium

Hoshangabad: Sports and Youth Welfare Minister and minister in-charge of the district Yashodhra Raje Scindia laid the foundation stone of sports stadium in Itarsi. This stadium will have facilities for all types of sports and games including football, hockey, kho-kho, basketball, gymnastics, athletics etc. The stadium would cost Rs 7 crore.

Sports minister Yashodhra Raje Scindia said all facilities would be given to the players of Itarsi on one ground and on one campus. There would be no need for them to come to Bhopal.

Scindia during her tour of the district inaugurated MP Swimming Academy situated in village Budhwada. She said that the youth would learn swimming and would get opportunities in future. On this occasion state assembly speaker Dr Sitasharan Sharma, director MP sports and youth welfare department and ADG Upendra Jain, SP Ashutosh Pratap Singh MLA Pipariya, Thakurdas Nagvanshi, head of district panchayat Kushal Patel, SDM Ritu Chauhan, Janpad Panchayat chief Sangita Solanki, swimming federation head Piyush Sharma, member of Rajya Antyodya Samiti Sampat Mundra, representatives of print and electronic media, young players and other people were present.

In-charge minister said, state assembly speaker Dr Sitasharan made all possible efforts for the stadium he was very enthusiastic for it. She also said this type of academy would help the players represent not only their state but also the country, and MP players would represent the country in Rio Olympic. Itarsi players will also be able to represent the country if have the talent to won the medals.

During the ceremony she asked the question that, what are the names of three sisters of Silawat family who won the medals in swimming? Among the girls belonged to Hoshangabad, nobody gave the answer, so she said to MP swimming federation head Piyush Sharma, that you do not know the talent of the district. Actually the minister was talking about the girls, Jyoti, Heera and Diksha Silawat.

Dr Sitasharan Sharma said for the maintenance of the stadium seven employees will be appointed including three coaches. At the programme, sports minister honored the players with citation letters who participated in Red Ball Cricket Competition which was organised in Haryana recently. On this occasion mementoes was given to the in-charge minister.
