Indore : Additional Director General of Madhya Pradesh and IG Indore Vipin Maheshwari has said use of even small quantity of drugs is dangerous to the society. He expressed concern that today students easily fall prey to drugs.
He was addressing a symposium organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) here on Wednesday on the eve of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26). The theme of symposium was ‘Drug abuse Consequences and Remedies.
The ADG cited the example of Punjab, once considered as grain bowl of India and also led the ‘Green Revolution’, is paying heavy price as most of its youths fall victims to drugs. Now, it is the most drug abused state in the country. On the occasion, Maheshwari suggested the need for change in approach and also the need find out the cause of problem.
Due to hectic schedule, parents could not give enough time to their kids. They can’t communicate with their kids. Possibly, this is the reason why children attracted towards drugs. Even some of the addicts don’t hesitate to end their life.
Later experts addressed the symposium. They were Dr Dilip Acharya, journalist Prakash Hindustani, Veena Mishra, Prof Ahsutosh Mishra, Dr Anil Bhandari, and Central School Principal Kiran Mishra.
The symposium was attended by galaxy of officers including, PF Commissioner Ajay K Mehra, DIG of BSF MK Yadav, Chief Airport Security Officer and Harendra Narayan.
NCB Regional Director BR Meena said that under the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the regional office will organize awareness programmes for a fortnight, wherein a awareness rally would be taken out on June 26 from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to Ravindra Natya Griha, where state Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya will administer the oath to youths.
