Indore : Even as government strives for rejuvenating Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), the Indian Institute of Management has made it one of its subjects and is staying tuned to the latest developments in the sector.
The institute has also been tracking growing ‘Indian Aviation Industry’ and ‘Frugal and Inclusive Innovation’. Free Press has already reported that the institute has also laid its focus on ‘Comparing Business in China and India” and “Economic & Social Development of the Malwa Region”.
“We have constituted special interest groups on the (above-mentioned) five themes for a comprehensive study,” said Akhtar Parvez, media incharge of IIM Indore.
With an objective to stay updated and share the ideas among students and faculty regarding various topics like science, business, economies, industries etc, the IIM Indore hosts special interest groups (SIG). These are theme based, research focused groups which analyze a particular theme with various directions and angles suggested by different departments of the Institute.
Depending upon the theme, these group comprise of faculty members, doctoral students and other research scholars with interests ranging from cross-cultural phenomena (such as value systems) to economy level (comparisons of industry clusters) and extending further to industry, firm and group levels as well.
These SIGs conduct various workshops, guest lectures and conferences for the purpose of gaining knowledge and acquainting the participants and faculty with the past, current and the future scenario of various themes, thereby encouraging them for a research with a new perspective.The institute has signaled at some more new groups.
“If any group of students have interest on any subject, he/she come up with the idea and we if find their proposal viable can approve their group,” Parvez said.
