On Thursday, CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan had clearly instructed the senior police officials including IG Vipin Maheshwari and DIG Rakesh Gupta to deal goons with an iron hand, when he was here to attend some private function.

The message was loud and clear and even the senior police officials including DIG Gupta and both the SPs actively campaigned and monitored drive in various police stations under their jurisdiction late on Thursday night and Friday evening.

Under Chhatripura police station as many as 12 habitual criminals including Lal alias Ranjan Sharma of Biyabani against whom 33 cases were registered, Sanjay alias Sanju Yadav with 27 cases, Manoj Singh of Joshi Mohalla with 26 cases, Manoj Yadav with 16 cases and Ravi kanjar with 10 cases, were arrested during the crackdown. In Eastern part of the city, 80 goons were arrested in Khajrana, Lasudia, MIG and Vijay Nagar police stations, while in Western part as many as 62 goons were arrested under Malharganj, Sarafa and Aerodrome police stations.

Police paraded the goons and also thrashed them while taking to police station in Chhatripura and Malharganj police stations.

It’s noteworthy that police had launched a crackdown at goons after spurt in serial crimes in the city but had almost stopped the drive against goons three days back. However, when CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan reprimanded senior police officials at Indore airport, the city police swung into action again on Thursday night.
