Indore: Central Board of Secondary Education will be conducting practical examinations at the examination centre from upcoming academic session 2019-2020. This means that students will be required to conduct practical, appear for viva and explain experiments at examination centre, unlike the usual practical exam in the school in presence of their teachers. Following this, some schools allowing XI and XII dummy classes might face trouble.
In dummy classes, students need not go to school and just appear for examinations. Many schools were even giving pass-out mark sheets of class XI. Besides, students were awarded marks of practical examination without having to conduct experiments or show their work.
With CBSE conducting practical examination at the centre, students will not be able to get 30 marks of practical exams just by studying in schools in dummy classes. Though this notification is not uploaded on CBSE’s websites, the instructions have been sent to schools.
Another effect of CBSE order would be change in level of preparation and hard work in practical examination. “Students often take practical examination lightly; but with the same examination to be conducted at examination centre, students will have to work hard,” educator Pradeep Joshi said.
Centres to deliver copies to Ajmer
Taking steps towards secure transit of answer sheets, CBSE has instructed examination centres to hand-deliver answer sheets to concerned regional office. For Indore, examination centres will be sending a representative to deliver the copy to Ajmer regional office. Further, CBSE will be keeping the answer sheets in bank lockers as per information circulated among schools. This is being done to ensure that no discrepancy occurs during transit.
