Indore : The careers of around 60 students of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) course offered by MGM Medical College are in jeopardy as Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has declined to conduct exams for them stating that their course is not affiliated.
The DAVV has suggested to the college to obtain affiliation only then their request for exams can be entertained.
The college had applied for affiliation in session 2013-14 for DMLT course but as it received recognition for that session late from the Medical Council of India (MCI), admissions were not accepted in course.
The session 2013-14 was declared a zero year for DMLT course in MGM Medical College.
The following academic year, the college did not take admission in the course for reasons best known to the powers that be.
In session 2015-16, the college admitted around 60 students without obtaining affiliation from the DAVV.
When the college authorities requested for conducting exams for the DMLT students, the university turned down their request stating that the course is not affiliated to the DAVV.
The university expressed its displeasure for admitting students in the course without securing affiliation.
Deputy registrar Prajwal Khare said that affiliation is a pre-requisite for admission but the MGM College did not follow the rule.
He, however, said that the university is still ready to entertain request of the college for exams if it obtained affiliation from DAVV.
