Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): The police on Saturday arrested four persons on charges of murdering a mobile shop owner for not exchanging a phone in broad daylight. The arrest was made within 8 hours of the incident.

The main accused Kaushal alias Kosar, 19, residing near Renuka Mata Temple is a listed criminal and many cases are registered against him.

The broad daylight murder shocked the people. The victim, Gulab Punjabi died on the way to the district hospital after he was assaulted with the cutter by a team of 4 goons at about 1.30 pm. The doctor declared him dead on arrival. A crowd gathered in the hospital due to this murder.

The police arrested them with the help of CCTV footage and information given by the informer. Disclosing the case, Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh said that the accused had bought the mobile phone from the shop and as the mobile was damaged, he was repeatedly asking the shopkeeper to change it.

The shopkeeper refused to change the mobile and the accused killed him with a cutter kept in the shop. He had bought the mobile for Rs 1,000 and had also bought a sim card and memory card, which was not operational.

Police station incharge BL Mandloi, Moghat police station incharge BLR Atude and Padam Nagar police station incharge Baljit Singh Bisen handled the security arrangements in the hospital.
