Indore: A woman committed suicide after four months of her marriage in MIG area on Friday. She was allegedly harassed by husband, his girlfriend and two other in-laws for the last few months.
A suicide note was recovered from her. Her family members gathered at police station and demanded strict action against the responsible people.The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Ragini Mishra, a resident of Nanda Nagar area of the city.
According to the police, she was married to Ravi Mishra against wishes of her family members about four months ago. Her mother Rajkumari Jatav told that Ragini was employed in a finance company. Family members were against their marriage as Ravi was unemployed and he was not of good character.
Rajkumari alleged that after their marriage, Ravi and two of in-laws were harassing her over petty issue. After few days of their marriage, Ragini came to know that Ravi has illicit relationship with a girl. Ravi has beaten her up when she objected to his relations.
Rajkumari also said that Ragini was badly thrashed by Ravi three days ago when she reported the incident to her. Ravi’s girlfriend was also harassing Ragini, she added.
On Friday, Ragini reached girlfriend’s house where she had heated argument. Later, she consumed poisonous substance and informed her cousin Yogesh. She was rushed to a hospital where she died during the treatment.
According to MIG police station incharge Indresh Tripathi, Ravi and his girlfriend were detained after Ragini’s parents created ruckus at the police station on Friday night. Further investigation was underway into the case.
