HOSHANGABD: A metallic plaque inscribed with Rashtrakavi Pandit Bhawani Prasad Mishra’s famous poem “Sannaata” was unveiled at the exact spot where he had penned the poem at a function here on Thursday.
The plaque has been installed under the joint aegis of the municipal committee, Narmadanchal Kalamkar and Press Club to commemorate Mishra.
Collector Avinash Lavania was the chief guest at the function, which was chaired by SP Ashotosh Pratap Singh. Municipality chairperson Akhilesh Khandelwal, author Pandit Girimohan Guru, CMP Pavan Kumar Singh and President of the Press Club Dinesh Sharma were among those present.
The collector, in his speech, congratulated the municipality for developing the place. He said that literature is the mirror of society. He said that when he was posted in Hoshangabad, many persons had congratulated him saying that he was going to the land of litterateurs.
The SP thanked the CMP Pawan Kumar Singh for giving a new, attractive form to a historical place replete with natural beauty. Khandelwal said that the municipality has plans to name roads and parks after litterateurs so that the people are introduced to them and their literary works. He said that nothing can be better than remembering the people who bought fame to our area by their creative endeavours.
