Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The much-anticipated commercial launch of the Indore Metro is now closer to reality, with the final inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) scheduled for Monday and Tuesday (March 24 and 25).

Once the metro receives the green signal from the CMRS, operations are expected to begin in the coming months. Once launched, metro trains will run at intervals of 15 to 30 minutes, depending on passenger demand.

Under the Metro Railway Act, metro services in India require approvals from both the Railway Board and CMRS before starting operations on elevated tracks. While the Railway Board has already given clearance, CMRS approval remains the final step.

In January, the CMRS team had inspected the metro depot, coaches and five stations along the 5.9 km super priority corridor, said Metro officials. The Indore Metro is expected to offer an affordable and convenient commuting option, with the minimum fare likely to be Rs20.
