A man sleeping on footpath was critically injured after a Tata Magic van rammed the pavement on Tuesday night.  Chhoti Gwaltoli police informed that the incident took place in front of railway station when a Tata Magic van driver lost control over steering and rammed the footpath where the man and his family members sleeping on Tuesday night. The driver was in inebriated state, the police said.

Injured Sumi Jamale and his wife along with two children were sleeping on the pavement in front of railway station when the incident occurred, police said adding the driver tried to flee the spot. However, people at the spot caught him and handed over to the police. Later, the injured man was rushed to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Two booked for dowry harassment
A case of dowry was registered against two persons at Pardeshipura police station on Tuesday. The victim was forced by accused to get a scooter and a gold chain from her parents.  According to police, incident took place at Subhash Nagar when accused Nilesh Kuril (husband) and Mamta Pardeshi (sister-in-law), forced Nisha for dowry. After she refused to get a scooter and a gold chain, the accused beat her and threatened of dire consequences. She managed to escape from the clutches of accused and informed her family members about the incident who filed a complaint with the police.
