Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 30-year-old man was electrocuted to death after a high-tension electric wire fell on him while he was walking outside his house under Kanadiya police station limits late on Friday night.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Arun, son of Rakesh, a resident of Girnar Colony.

His friend Gopal said that Arun was an electrician by profession and originally hailed from Chhatarpur. He had been living in Indore for the past 10 years.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the electric lines had been damaged during recent storms and rains but were repaired by MPEB workers.

On Friday night, after returning from work and having dinner, Arun stepped out for a stroll when strong winds caused the high-tension wire to snap and fall on him. He suffered severe electric shock and collapsed.

His family members, who heard the noise and rushed outside, found him lying unconscious. They quickly took him to the nearest hospital, but the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The local police have started an investigation to understand the exact circumstances that led to the incident. A post-mortem of the deceased has also been conducted, and further action will depend on the detailed findings of the inquiry.
