Indore: Want to fly to Sharjah or Abu Dhabi from here. Ashwini Lohani, newly appointed Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Air India, has good news for you!

He was here on Wednesday to announce the roll out the maiden international flight from the city from April. He has hinted that the flight would be either for Sharjah or Abu Dhabi.

AI CMD Lohani held a meeting with office-bearers and the members of the MP and Chhaitisgarh chapter of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) at Air India’s city office. He held in-depth discussions with TAAI member.

Talking to Free Press, TK Jose, Chairman of MP-CG chapter of TAAI, said Lohani looked all set in rolling out the maiden international flight from the city. Jose suggested that the international flight must be either for Singapore or Dubai. But AI CMD stated that flight would be either for Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. He said AI’s preparation to roll out the international flight from here is complete. On this occasion, TAAI members also requested for two additional flights for New Delhi — one each in the morning and evening.

Before leaving for New Delhi, Lohani held a meeting with Airport Director Aryama Sanyal and enquired about the facilities made for international flights. On this, Sanyal showcased the infra facilities for the Big Event starting next month.  Aviation sources also confirmed that they had time slots for the international flights.

Lohani is considered as a performer. And so he was appointed CMD of the debt-ridden national carrier AI for the second time on February 13. During his previous tenure between August 2015 and August 2017, he has had the credit of registering a operational profit for AI.
