Indore: Direction from ECI to be sought on NaMo TV

District Election Officer Lokesh Kumar Jatav has said that on airing the NaMo TV channel by certain DTH platforms, we have sought permission from ECI. Accordingly the decision will be taken. He also said that if any political party or candidate found distributing the saris, T-shirts etc. legal action will be taken against him.

Jatav said while interacting with media here at his office on Monday. It may be point able that with campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019 in full swing, a new channel called Content TV has now been launched on all major DTH platforms. The channel, which has now been renamed as Content TV, was undergoing test run for several months and went live as NaMo TV few days back.

The channel, which has now been renamed, was undergoing test run for several months and went live as NaMo TV few days back.  The channel appears to be an extension of NaMo App that contains all the information about PM Modi’s welfare schemes and other activities. For now, Content TV seems to be airing programs elated to PM Modi and his speeches.

Caps and gamchha distribution Allowed
Jatav said that if any political party or candidate found distributing the saris, T-shirts etc. legal action will be taken against him. As per the directive of Election Commission of India (ECI) only caps and Gamchha (big size handkerchiefs) can be distributed. He said that to provide duplicate Electoral photo identity card (EPIC) to the voters for the Lok Sabha elections, all the voters whose cards have been lost or spoiled have been given facility to make duplicate one. In this regard the instruction from office of Chief Electoral Officer has been instructed to give free duplicate EPIC to such voters till April 7.

Photo on postal ballot also
This time the photo o candidates will also be printed on the postal ballots also against their name. For this the candidates have to deposit 2 recent photographs along with the nomination papers. In the asset declaration affidavit they will have to declare the movable and immovable properties in the name of spouse and their children in an affidavit.

‘SST team can check vehicles Of Star campaigners’
Jatav said that as per the directive of ECI, Star campaigners can carry Rs 1 lakh in cash, however, it they carry the cash beyond this limit Static Surveillance Team (SST) have power to check their vehicles also. A SST team deployed at helipads of star campaigners.
