Indore: Builder Sandeep Agrawal was shot near service lane, just 100 meters away from Vijay Nagar police station on Wednesday evening. The shooters were seen fearless that they committed the crime near police station and fled the scene within a minute.
According to eyewitnesses, fear gripped shop keepers and people near the area after the incident and they immediately informed the police. The incident has raised question on alertness of Vijay Nagar police. Deputy Inspector General of Police Harinarayan-achari Mishra said that Sandeep was possibly attacked over some money matters.
Two country made firearms were used in the crime. Police have on Wednesday late night detained some suspects on the basis of CCTV footage and they are being questioned. Police claimed to have received names of some suspects and their roles are also being investigated.
Besides, Agrawal had an argument with someone few months ago and a complaint was also lodged by him at Palasia police station. The crime branch is also investigating the case. Sandeep was also involved in betting and was earlier booked by the police.
Five cases were registered against him at different police stations against him for his involvement in betting, fraud and other cases, DIG Mishra added. Gunman was not with Agrawal Preliminary investigation revealed that four persons were at office when Agrawal left. He used to keep a gunman as body guard along him but the gunman was not with him at the time of the incident. No one was aware of the missing of gunman. After the incident, more than 10 CCTVs have been examined by the police in which incident was captured in two CCTVs but the face of the shooters are not clear. A police team is constituted to examine the CCTVs of the roads through which the accused fled. The accused could not be identified till late night. The statements of his family members are also being recorded to know about Agrawal’s disputes. Sources claimed that Agrawal was the owner of a TV cable company a few years ago. The people and traders fled the scene after hearing gun shot. The crime was committed by the shooters in full public view. Fortunately, no other persons were injured in the incident.
