If you love ice-creams and are ready to have one to beat the heat- beware. In its recent report, the Food and Drug Administration Department has found the “dollops” of two big brands as sub- standard. The department has served notices to the shop keepers from where the samples were taken and given them a month time to get the samples checked again. .
The department has found about 25 products tested as sub-standard and misbranded, including Vadilal and Havmor Ice Cream. The samples of these products were collected between the months of February and March. “In the sample report of the products collected for testing in the month of February and March, 25 products collected from various stores have been found sub-standard and mis-branded,” senior food safety officer Manish Swami said.
Samples of Havmor ice-cream were colleges from Vijay Shree Sandwich in Vijay Nagar which were tested misbranded while the samples of Vadilal Ice Cream were collected from company’s depot in Pologround which were tested misbranded and sub standard both. Along with it, samples of various milk products were also collected from dairies and eateries across the city. “We have given notices to all the shopkeepers and asked them to get the samples checked again. We will send the cases in ADM court for action if they failed in getting them checked,” Swami added.
