Indore: Being proud of being Indian is not just about hoisting the flag, people should show love for country in their act. This was stated by PETA India volunteers in a drive conducted at Meghdoot garden on Friday. Three volunteers Pawan, Tanveer and Bharat were body-painted to resemble Indian flag.

They held signs reading, ‘Be Proud to Be an Indian – Adopt a Desi Dog’. The volunteers greeted and urged visitors to help stray animals. Volunteer Ayushi Sharma talked about responsibility of people towards millions of homeless dogs and cats languishing on streets and in animal shelters. “Every time someone buys a ‘foreign’ bred puppy or kitten from a breeder or pet shop, an Indian animal loses chance at finding a loving home,” volunteer Priyanshu Jain said.
