Indore: The power consumption has increased up to 20 per cent in May end and June first week in the city as compare to last year. According to DISCOM officials, the reason behind this increase is rise in demand of electricity. The demand in May and first week of June is the highest in the last five years. Around 7.25 crore unit of electricity was consumed per day in 15 districts. Last year, the consumption was limited to 6 crore units. “Proper equipment are being provided to the employees to carry out risky operations. Employees are deployed in some areas where there is shortage of staff. As many as 250 workers are kept reserved to fulfill the requirement in such areas,” added DISCOM official.
