Indore : The District Administration has hardened its stand against stray cattle and their owners and during 7- hour- long operation on Tuesday, it impounded over 25 cattle and sent them to Kanji house. The team also destroyed three cow sheds and lodged FIRs against four cattle owners, which include a local BJP leader.

This is the first tough action from the administration against cattle owners as highest number of FIRs were lodged in a single day.

The Admn team, led by SDM Sandeep Soni, started its action at 11am sharp on Tuesday and it continued till 6 in the evening.

During the drive, the team destroyed three cattle sheds in Malharganj area, which is notorious for stray cattle. The team decided to focus on three areas— Tamboli Bakhal, Kailash Marg and Bhakhta Prahlad Nagar, where large number of cattle is found roaming on streets. They also create hurdles in the smooth running of road traffic and also create nuisance for the twowheeler riders.

Later, talking to Free Press, Soni said that the team also seized cattle from residences of cattle owners.

The team began its action in Tamboli Bakhal, where one can find numbers of cattle owners. Here, the team destroyed three cow sheds. Later, the team went to Kailash Marg, close to the residence of Congress leader Kamlesh Khandelwal and destroyed a cow shed there. The team later reached Bhakta Prahlad Nagar where it faced stiff opposition from a BJP leader Principal Tongiya.

Tongiya along with his supporters surrounded the team and forced them not to carry out any action there.

But, the team did not cow down. At one point of time, the SDM held a cane to disperse the rowdy crowd.

Ultimately, Tongiya and his followers bowed to the pressure of the admn and helped the team to their animals.

Summing up the action, Soni said that as many as four FIRs were lodged against cattle owners including Tongiya and Narayan Khalifa of Tamobli Bakhal.

On Tuesday, one person was also arrested under Section 166 of IPC for creating hurdle in the official work.
