Indore : A local court sentenced three youths to life imprisonment for killing a youth over a road rage incident. Special judge AK Paliwal handed down the sentence and also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on each convict. The convicts would have to undergo additional imprisonment if they fail to pay the fine. According to prosecution, Jagdish Soni alias Sonu, Vikash alias Kallu and Jitu Marathe, all residents of Babu Bhamori Colony, had murdered Sharad Marathe (22) alias Bharat of the same locality after a road mishap on June 5, 2007. Public Prosecutor Vishal Shrivastava said Sharad along with his friends was going to a petrol pump for fuel when his motorcycle had a minor collision with the two-wheeler of the convicts. The convicts entered into a verbal duel with Sharad and his friends. Soon the duel took an ugly turn when the former whipped out knives and stabbed him.
They also beat him up with iron rods and fled the scene leaving Sharad in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a hospital but could not make it on time. The Public Prosecutor said that they produced 16 witnesses in the case. Nearly eight years after the incident, the court convicted all the three accused in the case and awarded them life imprisonment.
