Chennai: DMK leader M K Stalin on Tuesday rubbished claims by BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan that he was holding talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and declared that he was prepared to quit politics if it was proved that he held parleys with the BJP. On the other hand, he asked if Tamilisai and Modi would retire from politics if it was proved that no such talks were held.
A day after he met TRS leader K Chandrasekhar Rao in Chennai, Stalin also reiterated that he did not foresee the possibility of a non-Congress, non-BJP alliance forming the Government at the Centre after May 23. He insisted that Rao had met him out of courtesy when the latter had come to Tamil Nadu to offer prayers at temples and there was nothing more to it.
Earlier in the day Tamilisai claimed that Stalin was holding talks with Modi but did not substantiate it. Stalin made it clear that he was not only the first leader to propose Congress president Rahul Gandhi”s name for the post of Prime Minister but was also strongly critical of Modi calling him a sadist and fascist.
“I had campaigned that Modi should not become Prime Minister again. The DMK is doubly firm that Rahul Gandhi must become the Prime Minister. The DMK is also firm that a Government headed by the Congress must be installed at the Centre,” he said.
