In a big development, underworld don Ravi Pujari has been arrested in Senegal. He had a Red Corner Notice issued against his name and was believed to be residing in Australia.
According to India Today, the investigation agencies had found Ravi Pujari’s location to be Burkina Faso in western Africa before he was located in Senegal. Ravi Pujari, who used to operate in Mumbai in the 1990s, is wanted in India in a number of cases including extortion, kidnapping, murder, blackmail, and cheating.
On January 28, Mumbai Police Crime Branch invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against two men allegedly linked to gangster Ravi Pujari. William Rodricks and Aakash Shetty, alleged ‘tippers’ of the Pujari gang, were arrested earlier this month and were alleged to be supplying contact details of possible targets in the city who would then receive extortion calls from the gangster.
