Sushma Swaraj chairs regional Indian Heads of Mission meeting in Hanoi

Hanoi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today chaired a meeting of Indian Heads of Mission in Vietnamese capital Hanoi.

She is on a three-day visit to Vietnam and had earlier met the President and Prime Minister of Vietnam.

The External Affairs Minister said India is working on its “Act East” policy, and added that she has discussed the way forward on bilateral ties with the Vietnamese leadership, especially in the fields of education, textiles,agriculture and natural resources.

Indian heads of mission in East Asian countries were also instructed on New Delhi’s approach to promoting bilateral relations in the region.

President Pranab Mukherjee is expected to undertake a state visit of Vietnam next month, while the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Tan Dung, will visit India at the end of the year.

Swaraj is visiting Vietnam for the first time and her visit concludes today.
