Kohima: Nagaland Chief Minister T R Zeliang today said that though the Naga political problem has been continuing for more than six decades along with the 17-year cease-fire between the Centre and Naga political groups (NPGs), there seems to be no breakthrough till date.

“The problem seems to have no solution in sight if we don’t unite, reconcile and come together,” the Chief Minister said at a function to celebrate Ahuna, the premier festival of the Sumi community in Dimapur District Sports Complex (DDSC) yesterday. “Naga people can only move forward if there is a solution
or else we are bound to lose everything,” he stated.

Zeliang called upon Naga political groups to reconcile, unite and then to negotiate in one voice and solve the issue in a time-bound manner with support of the public. He said the Sumi community has been one of the front-runners in the Naga political movement and much stake lies on them to bring about unity and reconciliation among the Nagas.

He also appealed to the Sumi community to work for bringing unity of all Naga political groups saying, “Unless we are united, the destiny of the Nagas is uncertain.” Ahuna is a post-harvest festival of the Sumi community of the state.
