Bhillai : Nine records were set in yoga and pranayam with a unique coordination of youth and yoga power at Jayanti Stadium here on Thursday to mark the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand, which is also celebrated as national youth day. The programme was launched by Swami Ramdev, accompanied by Acharya Balkrishna, who exhorted the gathering to build iron bodies and take oath to become winners in the world.
Over 1 lakh people gathered at the premises to perform yoga, surya namaskar, kapalbhati pranayam and anulom-vilom pranayam in which world records were set. Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh and higher education and revenue minister Prem Prakash Pandey were also present on the occasion.
They witnessed the setting of a fourth world record of mass yoga performance by over 1 lakh people seated in 43 blocks in a 36 acre area.
The fifth record was of one lakh people doing 10 pushups each in one minute.
The sixth record was set by Swami Ramdev”s disciple Jaipal form Sikar, Rajasthan, who did a head stand for 141 minute. Last year another disciple Vyom Jha had done head stand for 90 minutes.
The seventh record was set by another disciple Rohtas who did 1000 push-ups in merely 19 minutes and 20 second thereby beating the earlier record set by Williams of Canada who had done 1000 push-up in 27 minute and 40 seconds.
The eighth and ninth records were of mass performance of sarvangsam asan and halasan by 50,000 people.
All the records were noted down in Golden Book of World Record, whose Asia chief Manish Bishnoi and his team of observers were present at the venue. Preparations were on for this feat for the past three months by Bharat Swabhiman, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Mahila Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Yuva Bharat and Kisan Seva Samiti.
In all 10 winners of the mass examination, conducted on January 5 to mark the foundation day of Bharat Swabhiman, were feted by Chhattisgarh chief minister.
