Jaipur, May 28: Hundreds of ash urns of deceased in Rajasthan are waiting in locked rooms of crematoriums for immersion in the holy river of Ganga at Haridwar and Soroji as the Government of Uttar Pradesh has restricted the interstate public transport and not allowing the buses of other states to enter UP. Rajasthan government is corresponding with the UP government but permission is awaited.

The Rajasthan Government is running a scheme called ‘Moksh Kalash Yojna’ for the families who cannot afford to go for ash urns immersion at Haridwar in Uttarakhand and Soroji in Uttar Pradesh on their own. Two members of the family are allowed a free return journey in the buses of the state transport corporation (RSRTC) to Haridwar and Soroji in this scheme. Officials of RSRTC told that Utarakhand government has permitted us and we have around 2500 registrations in this scheme since May 5, but are not able to run buses for the registered families as there are two routes to reach Haridwar from Rajasthan and both passes from UP and the other place Soroji is in UP itself.

The UP government has restricted interstate public transport in the state, so we need permission to enter the state of Uttar Pradesh. Although private vehicles are allowed to enter UP.

Officials told that two letters have been written in this regard to the UP government, one by the chairman of the RSRTC Rajeshwar Singh and the other one by the Niranjan Arya, the Chief Secretary of the state a 15 days ago. But permission is awaited. Hanuman Sahay Bhardwaj of one of the union leaders of the RSRTC has urged the state unit of BJP to resolve the matter as BJP is the ruling party in UP.
