Patna : The political discourse in Bihar touched a new low on Tuesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi likening the grand alliance of the RJD, the JDU and the Congress to 3 idiots – an apparent reference to the Amir Khan movie. “I know there are three partners in the grand alliance — the Congress, the RJD and the JDU — and I wonder why Nitish Babu chose a song from the film ‘Three Idiots’ for his first Mushaira?’’ Modi demanded. The Prime Minister was addressing a rally in Sitamarhi and referring to Nitish’s parody of a song from 3 Idiots that the chief minister had recited on Monday.
‘‘What entertainment Nitish Babu…Practise it, perfect it, you will get many opportunities after November 8 (when votes are counted). You can sing at leisure then,” said Modi, whose party was dumped by Kumar two years ago after 18 years of partnership. Nitish, in his parody, ridiculed Modi for not keeping his promises, his frequent trips abroad and his hollow vow to repatriate black money that was stashed abroad.
“Bahati hawa sa tha woh, Gujarat se aaya tha woh, kaala dhan laane wala thaa wo, kahan gaya use doondho. Humko desh ki fikr sataati hai, woh bus videsh ke daure lagaate hain, humko badhti mahangai satati, woh bas mann ki baat sunata. Har waqt apni selfie khinchta tha woh, Dawood ko laane wala tha woh, kahan gaya use dhoondo…” Nitish had recited, in a takeoff on the ‘Three Idiots’ song. When the movie had released in 2009, Nitish had gone to watch the premier on a rickshaw along with two friends of his engineering college days — a retired officer of the LIC and a journalist, who later wrote his biography too. In the 2010 elections, Nitish had recited Dharamvir Bharti’s couplet lampooning Lalu Prasad. It went thus: “People be alert, Lalu is coming”.
