India's COVID-19 situation continues to improve: 62,224 fresh cases and 2,542 deaths reported in last 24 hours

India's active COVID-19 caseload has now fallen below the eight lakh mark, even as the daily tally remains at it's lowest level in over two months. On Wednesday morning, the country reported 62,224 new cases and 2,542 deaths. As per the Health Ministry, there were also 1,07,628 discharges in the last 24 hours.

India now has 8,65,432 active cases. With Wednesday's update, the nation's cumulative case tally since the pandemic began has risen to 2,96,33,105. At the same time, 26,19,72,014 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. Of these 28,00,458 were given in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate has now increased to 95.80%, while the weekly weekly positivity rate dropped below 5%.
