New Delhi : Darul Uloom Deoband, one of the biggest Islamic institutions, that issued a “fatwa” (fiat) early this week against tatoos and use of alcohol-based perfumes, has now banned even reading or stocking of Rozgar Samachar in any part of a mosque.

Its ruling came on a query by a person whether he can subscribe to Rozgar Samachar and share it with the job-seekers in the outer precincts of the mosque. Without giving any reason, the seminary warned that bringing any newspaper in any part of the mosque, main hall or outer courtyard, will amount to desecration of the mosque. The questioner was dumb-founded as he did not know how employment-related news can cause disrespect to the mosque.

Replying to another “fatwa” seeker, the seminary has ruled that perfumes are impure and unlawful.
