Dreaded gangster of Western Uttar Pradesh, accused of 18 murders, famous Contract Killer, Don Anil Dujana was killed on Thursday in an encounter by Special Task Force. Known as Chota Shakeel of West UP, Dujana was active in the crime world for the last 23 years.
There were 66 criminal cases pending against Anil Dujana in various courts which included murder, attempt to murder, extortion and gangster. The Meerut police had imposed a gangster act on him nine times and the National Security Act (NSA) once.
Had come to meet gang members
According to Special Director General (DG), Law & Order, Prashant Kumar, the STF had an encounter with Anil Dujana at Bhola Ki Jhaal area of Meerut on Thursday afternoon. Dujana was released from jail a few days back and had come to meet his gang members there. The STF sleuths tried to stop after which Dujana and aides opened fire. In the counter firing of STF, Dujana was killed and two pistols of .32 & .30 bore were recovered from his vehicle along with a large cache of bullets. Dujana’s name figured in the list of most wanted criminals of UP released recently.

According to police, a Special Task Force (STF) team retaliated when the gangster, recently released from prison on bail, opened fire at them after being cornered. His car had crashed into a pole.
The encounter took place on the day of polling for the first phase of the urban local body elections in the state. The Yogi Adityanath government's major poll plank has been its "strict" handling of law and order.
Prashant Kumar said that Dujana was threatening a family in Meerut whose two members were killed earlier by his gang. He said that the Anil Dujana gang was active in West UP and the National Capital Region for the last two decades. Earlier a gang member of Sunder Bhati gang, Dujana had parted ways six years back and joined Randeep Bhatti gang. For the last few years he was operating individually with over three dozen of his aides. He was making contract killings in various parts of the country and was called Chota Shakeel of West UP by those active in the crime world. His name first figured in a murder at Kavinagar, Ghaziabad in the year 2002.
Who is Anil Dujana?
He was recently released from prison on bail and was trying to build his gang again, Special DG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said, adding that a case of extortion was also lodged against him at Dadri Police station of Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The officer said the state police have been keeping tabs on 65 gangsters, including Dujana.
