India, on Tuesday, logged 16,159 fresh cases of the coronavirus and 28 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. As per the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, the country witnessed a total of 15,394 discharges in the last 24 hours.
The total recovery rate stands at 98.53% and total recoveries data has reached to 4,29,07,327.
The total active cases of COVID-19 in India rose to 1,15,212, the health ministry said. Yesterday, the registered active cases were 1,14,475.
As per the data shared by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 86,49,05,684 samples have been tested up to Tuesday for the infection, out of which, 4,54,465 samples were tested on Tuesday.
The daily Covid cases doubled across Maharashtra on Tuesday, with 3,098 new infections recorded in the last 24 hours, as compared to 1,515 cases reported on July 4.
The total Covid count in the state has now increased to 79,89,909 cases so far. Meanwhile, six people succumbed to the deadly virus on Tuesday, taking the death toll to 1,47,749, to date.
On the other hand, Mumbai witnessed a slight rise in Covid cases with 659 new cases and one Covid-related death being recorded on Tuesday, taking the total Covid tally to 11,16,131, with 19,620 deaths so far.
The doubling days jumped to 762 till July 5, while the weekly growth rate dropped to 0.88 per cent.
