Court acquits former MP in rape case

NEW DELHI: Former BSP MP Dhananjay Singh was on Saturday acquitted by a Delhi Court of the charges of raping and criminally intimidating a woman after the alleged victim turned hostile. The 42-year-old woman deposed in the court that she was not sexually assaulted by the politician. She said, she had lodged the complaint against Singh as he used to interfere in her matrimonial life and her husband had sent her divorce papers in 2009 due to which she was disturbed. In the charge sheet against Singh, police had alleged that he had repeatedly raped the woman between July 2005 and March 2009.
