Raipur: Durg Police has arrested two persons from capital city Raipur for giving death threats to a social media user who supported Nupur Sharma’s controversial statement on his social media account.
Superintendent of Police Durg Abhishek Pallava on Saturday confirmed the arrests were made on the basis of a complaint filed by the applicant (victim) resident Kailash Nagar in Kumhari police station, Durg.
In the complaint, the victim alleged that he received death threats from two unidentified numbers on his cell phone for supporting Nupur Sharma statement on social media, the Senior Police officer said.
The accused who were arrested for giving death threats were identified as Kasif alias Kunal Sendre and Ritika Bharti, both were residents of Goal Bazar, Raipur.
Earlier, BJP leader Gaurishankar Shrivas made a statement that the BJP is well prepared to provide protection to its party members. He also alleged that apart from lodging an FIR, police hadn't taken any action.
