Thiruvananthapuram : The prime accused in the solar panel scam, Biju Radhakrishnan, shocked Keralites on Wednesday by raising sexual allegations against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Biju, who is serving a life term in a case related to the murder of his first wife, said that he had video tapes showing sexual contacts the 72-year-old leader and five other ruling front leaders had with fellow-accused and live-in-partner Saritha S Nair.
He made the revelation while deposing before Justice G Sivarajan Commission, who is probing the case. Though he claimed that he had video tapes to prove his allegation, he did not produce them before the commission on Wednesday.
The other leaders against whom sexual charges have been leveled by the solar scam accused are Labour Minister Shibhu Baby John, Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar and Congress MLA Hybi Eden. He said that he was ready to submit the evidence to the commission whenever needed.
Earlier in the morning, Biju had told the commission that he had paid a bribe of Rs 5.5 crore to the chief minister. He said that Rs 5.1 crore was handed over to the chief minister and Rs 40 lakh to his aides, Tenny Joppan and Jikku Jacob, in three installments.
He said he himself had handed over Rs 1.1 crore directly to Chandy at the Ernakulam government guest house.
The chief minister had removed Joppan and Jikku from his personal staff and Salim Raj from his security following reports regarding their links Saritha.
