65 Pakistanis given Indian citizenship in 2016

New Delhi: Sixty five Pakistani nationals, including singer Adnan Sami, and 55 people of other nationalities were given Indian citizenship in first two months of 2016, Rajya Sabha was informed today.

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said in 2015, 263 Pakistanis and 344 people from different countries were given Indian citizenship. In 2014, 267 Pakistani nationals and 352 people of other nationalities were given Indian citizenship, he said in reply to a written question.

Pakistan-born Sami was given Indian citizenship on January 1 this year.
