On February 3, a task force team of the Commissioner of Food Safety undertook inspections of two restaurants in Hyderabad's Lakdikapul and Narayanaguda areas. The task force reported several food safety violations under the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
According to Telangana Today, at Hotel Ashoka in Lakdikapul, the officials seized expired food items including rosemary (September 2023) and 10 kg of chopped chicken (January 2025). The task force also detected cockroach infestation and unavailability of water in the kitchen.
In addition, the premise was reported to be foul-smelling, with rusty vessels, refrigerators, and walls. The usage of synthetic food colours was also found in the prepared food items.
As per the tweet of the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, rotten cauliflower and brinjal were also seized from the kitchen. The inspecting teams further reported that despite 140 workers, there was no FoSTaC-trained supervisor on the premises.

At the Indian Durbar Restaurant, the officials found several expired food items like 3 packets of Masala Powder, 3.5 kg of Cumin powder (October 2024), Chilli flakes (March 2024), hazelnut-flavoured syrup (September 2024), and peach-flavoured syrup (March 2024), as per the report.
In addition, several rotten vegetables with fungus infestation and cockroach infestation were found in the kitchen.
